Advanced Depression Assessment & Neuromodulation Pathway in Dublin
A consultant psychiatrist-led, multidisciplinary pathway for adults experiencing depression that has not improved with standard treatment.
If you have been living with depression for some time and previous treatments have not brought enough improvement, it may be time to review your diagnosis, treatment history and next clinical options.
At NeuroLab Mental Health, we provide a comprehensive assessment pathway for adults with persistent or treatment-resistant depression. Our team reviews your symptoms, history, medication, psychological factors, functional impact and treatment goals before recommending the most appropriate next step.
Where clinically appropriate, neuromodulation options such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation may be considered as part of the pathway.
When depression has not improved, the next step should be clinical clarity
Depression can be complex. For some people, symptoms improve with therapy, medication or lifestyle changes. For others, depression can persist despite previous treatment.
This does not mean there are no further options. It means the case needs to be reviewed carefully.
Our pathway is designed for adults who may be experiencing:
- Persistent low mood
- Loss of interest or motivation
- Emotional exhaustion
- Poor concentration
- Sleep disruption
- Reduced work or daily functioning
- Ongoing symptoms despite antidepressant medication
- Previous therapy without sufficient improvement
- Repeated depressive episodes
- Complex mental health presentations
The aim is to understand what is maintaining the depression and what treatment options may be most appropriate now.

This is not a “one-size-fits-all” depression service

Before any intervention is recommended, we complete a structured evaluation. This helps determine whether the next step should be psychological therapy, psychiatric review, medication optimisation, further assessment, neuromodulation or another pathway.
The goal is to avoid fragmented care and provide a clear, clinically guided plan.

Outcome monitoring
Progress is reviewed using clinical feedback and objective measures where appropriate.
Outcome reviews may be completed:
- After the initial stage
- During treatment
- At the end of treatment
- At follow-up points such as 3 months and 6 months
This allows the team to monitor response, adjust recommendations and provide clearer reporting to patients and referring professionals.
